A cuppa tea? Yes, please!

After two long weeks of ministry preparation and execution, and three more in as many upcoming weeks, I was longing for a restful Sabbath. I read snippets in several books and eventually headed out for a leisurely walk in the field behind the church. I meandered through the cemetery, stopping to consider the lives lived between the dashes on the headstones, and wondering about their stories.

I stopped and sat in the sanctuary for a few minutes, savoring the stillness and the cool of the stones.

The sun was showing off for the first time in many months and a sit with a cuppa sounded delightful. And a friend would be a bonus. “Hey, are you home?” I texted. “I’m driving home now; want me to stop by or you can come by for tea?” she responded. And so we did.

We warmed the mugs and headed out to a few chairs behind her house. We shared, we laughed, we pondered, and we delighted. We warmed our bodies and our hearts.

As I walked home, I felt a spring in my step and a smile on my face. Sabbath rest was truly a delight.
